A horse with its mane caught in the wind, painted in every color it could hold.

Fire Horse is a one-of-a-kind original, not a print. It took six months to paint, building the mane up strand by strand in layers of bright acrylic and letting the background run in soft violet and teal drips so the horse stands forward.

2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac, a year tied to energy, independence and bold moves. At four by six feet, it is a statement piece for a living room, bedroom, office or barn lounge, and a memorable gift for a horse lover.

Fire Horse: a large painting of a horse's head in profile with a windswept mane in red, yellow, orange and green, its body broken into blocks of blue, yellow, red and pink against a soft violet and teal background.

About the artist

Cat Moss

When I think about riding horses, these colors capture exactly how it feels to be wild and free.

I was always drawing as a kid, and I studied art in college. In 1995 I started painting for my grandfather's business, and after he retired I kept going on my own, painting homes and businesses for his clients.

About twenty years later, alongside my career as an instructional designer, I started creating murals as a side business. That led me to fine art. I love wild, bold, bright art that makes a statement.
